CLUB’S URGENT ADMIN APPEAL
Chairman says young people need to step up to the plate
Athriving club has issued an urgent appeal for people to help with its day-to-day running. The Fiat 500 Enthusiasts Club is in desperate need of help with administration due to its ageing membership, according to chairman, John Jenkins.
Membership numbers are strong and the club holds many events and produces a magazine and a website, but it is still struggling to get help.
John Jenkins says: ‘ We do need some help with day to day committee work, and I think many other clubs are in the same situation. Our cars appeal to young people, but they are not coming forward to help run the club. As also is the case with many other club committees, some of us are getting on a bit. Maybe there are event people outside the club who might like to join us and get involved.
‘The committee has freely given its time and efforts to achieve what we have and are now asking for support. The club has now been running for around ten years, generally with the same persons filling the vital roles. It is imperative that we now receive fresh input from the membership.
‘The club is successful in every respect, has a secure financial position, is a member of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs and most importantly has excellent contacts within the classic car world.
‘ We now urgently need several members to come forward and assist with the routine roles that are vital to keep the club going.’
The club will be exhibiting at this year’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Car Show at the NEC on 10-12 November.
