Caravans may have been around for more than 100 years, but this BBC Four documentary covers the period from the 1950s up to the present day. It reveals how caravans, once the playthings of a privileged few,

became a firm favourite with almost a quarter of British holidaymakers after World War Two. It’s also a very succinct and nostalgic way of seeing the different types of cars that have been used to tow caravans through the decades. Ford Consuls, Austin Landcrabs, Commer vans – they’re all in there. Even a Jaguar E-type recieves a cameo role! Murray Scullion
