1963 Ford Zodiac MkIII resto

-

HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?

Not very long – this Zodiac has been left to me by a relative who recently passed away, and I wondered if you could help with some kind of valuation, please? The relative was my second cousin, aged 74 when he passed away, and in fact the car was originally his father’s, so it has been in the family for many years. It appears (from the last tax disc) to have been standing for about 34 years in the garage – which explains why I haven’t been able to take a better shot of the car so far! I haven’t dragged it out as yet because it will no doubt require wheel dollies.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

The car has lots of history, with virtually all the old receipts and a red Ford workshop manual. I am the administrator for the estate and I haven’t as yet found the registration documents but there is a pile of papers to sort through so hopefully they will turn up.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

This is a true ‘garage find’ and it would be nice to see the car fully restored. The interior looks reasonable and the dash unmolested. The bodywork is fairly straight but well faded, chromework straight but would need rechroming. It looks like it will need quite a bit of work on the front end with the suspension tops showing corrosion and no doubt the inner wings will need work. The floor may require some welding, too. It’s certainly not for the fainthearted! I am estimating a value of £1500-2000 but I could be way off.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

Not that I can tell.
