5 WAYS TO MAKE IT BETTER

-

1 Keep it running cool A combination of small radiator and bulky electric fan isn’t ideal, so if your GT6 runs hot that could be why. Consider re-instating the standard fan arrangement, and it’s also worth making sure that the cowl fitted originally is in place – if not, metal replacements cost around £30.

2 Improve Power and Response You can eke out a few more bhp and improve the driveability and response with some simple mods. Fit K&N air filters, and consider a sports exhaust with an uprated extractor manifold – stainless steel systems cost £500-750 depending on model.

3 Improve the car’s cornering abilities If you want to lower the stance and improve the handling there are plenty of options. £20 bags a lowering block that sits between the transverse rear leaf spring and differential, and you’ll need lower front springs too. A full set of uprated springs and dampers costs £400-500. Also, consider replacing standard bushes with polyurethane items for sharper responses.

4 Uprate the brakes Bigger front brakes are possible but pricey, and you may need bigger wheels to fit. Instead, consider uprated pads that cost £50-60 and pair them with braided brake hoses at £20 per pair. Fitting a servo to the earlier models brings benefits; Lockheed kits are around £100.

5 silence the rattle The ‘death rattle’ at start-up is due to oil starvation and it’s easily cured by fitting a spin-on oil filter conversion. The kit costs £60 or so and is a bolt-on job.
