7k-mile BMw for sale
A 1980 E23 BMW 728i up for grabs at Staffordshire dealer, Avantgarde Classics, has just 7396 miles on the clock.
The Polaris Silver automatic has just one former keeper, who ordered the car from Carl Norris BMW of Kidderminster in June 1980, from which point the car has remained entirely original bar maintenance. The 20 MoT certificates and large service file that come with the car suggest that it has stayed on the road for most of its life.
BMW Car Club GB chairman, Richard Baxter, said: ‘This model would have been purchased by a company director or as a company car, so it is most unusual to find one with such low mileage and in such excellent condition – the two do not always go hand in hand. Apart from one other recently sold in private hands, it is extremely rare.’
With many BMW saloons from the 1970s and ’80s struggling to find enthusiasm in the same way as their sports models, BMWCCGB has recently founded the ‘Sharknose Collection’, pooling knowledge on the Bavarian company’s wedgefronted models.
Richard said: ‘The E23 came along at a time when BMW started to gain some real traction in the UK. Even today, the performance will be more than enough to keep pace with modern motoring and the driving experience will provide the driver with a readily accessible level of driver satisfaction.’
