Rare Mercedes could be yours

-

A 1985 Mercedes-Benz 230TE, one of four official service cars that were supplied to the UK in period, is up for sale from a private seller in Bristol.

Mercedes dealers used its service cars to attend breakdowns of customer cars; officially liveried vehicles were then ordered and built to a common specification.

This 1985 S123 estate was originally owned by a dealer in Milton Keynes. Its distinguishing features include a large Mercedes-Benz toolbox in the boot, special 15-inch steel wheels, a blue MB-Tex interior and two-tone livery. The current owner, Gareth James, purchased the car from a former Mercedes-Benz mechanic, who had tracked down the service car he had used while working for the company in the mid-Eighties. The car is said to be in very good condition, with 102,000 miles on the clock and a full service history.

Gareth said: ‘I’ve had confirmation from Mercedes that is a service car and the ultra-rare 15-inch steel wheels would support this, as only service vehicles and cars sold to emergency services received steel wheels in this size. It’s in great shape. I’m only selling it as I need the space.’ 07498 381993
