‘Asteroid’ Lister lands at Lancashire base
Lister Cars moved into its new Lancashire headquarters on 26 November – taking the marque’s first ever car, the 1951/2 TojeiroJAP, otherwise known as ‘The Asteroid’, with it to put on display.
Lister’s owner and CEO since 2013, Lawrence Whittaker, positioned ‘The Asteroid’ in the foyer himself, placing it alongside the company’s latest offering
– the Jaguar F-type-based LFT-666
(née Thunder). ‘To finally move in is a moment I will never forget, and to position my 1951/2 Lister Jap, the first car Lister created, alongside our newest LFT-666 is a true honour and one I know Brian Lister would approve of,’ Lawrence said.
While ‘The Asteroid’s’ static display indoors might be a far cry from the car’s competition heyday with Archie ScottBrown behind the wheel, it gives visitors a direct link into Lister’s history. The new building, known as the Rocket Factory, is to also act as a Lister Classics showroom; the Lister Knobbly and Costin Continuation cars will still be built at the company’s Cambridgeshire works. ]
