THE WEEK IN DEALS

- RICHARD BARNETT’S WEEK OF LOOKING AT THE MARKET

TUESDAY

Off to Brightwells for its preview day. I’m still liking the new arrangement for the way the cars are displayed and I also like one of the youngest cars, a 55-plate Daimler Super Eight. Externally it’s a Jaguar XJ8 with a crinkly grille, but the Jaguar-plus interior as good as you’ll find in any

Arnage. A great luxury buy.

FRIDAY

This time it’s CCA’s preview day, and as always the Warwickshire Event Centre venue is full of motors. A good move is putting the cars that are outside near the front door on hard standing, rather than on wet grass as before. Interesting vehicles? How about a Hoopermodified Ford Consul Capri or a Mercedes-Benz 500SEC with Lorinser bodykit and wheels? This lacks the gaudiness of many kitted SECs available in the 1980s.

SATURDAY

Definitely no peace for the wicked, as I take the rattler into London for Bonhams’ Bond Street sale. I’ve not seen a Ferrari 500 Superfast for a few years so the one on offer is interesting – and won’t be cheap.
