Essex enthusiast relocates – but not before parting with his 25-car collection

Brentwood-based Nir Darwish has decided to sell his fleet of classics in the hope of finding indoor storage. Nir, whose main passion is Subarus, wants to move his cache of vehicles – mostly projects amassed over a period of five years – on to new homes so that they get restored.

Most of the cars start and drive.

He said: ‘I’ve always been into collecting cars – but I want a few less, and the ones

I keep I want indoors. I’d rather work on one car at a time, and bring it back to life.’

Nir’s most valuable car is a 1962 Lancia Flaminia Coupé Pininfarina, which was imported from Italy and restored in Poland. He said: ‘All the hard work has been done. It’s complete apart from the front and side glass.’ Elsewhere, there’s a 1962 Triumph Herald 1200 convertible, a 1971 MGB Roadster and a 1975 BMW 2002 automatic, all of which were imported from dry US states. There’s also a 1979 Subaru 1600 Custom – thought to be the only quad-headlight four-door left in the UK – and a 1953 Morris Commercial MRA-1 recovery truck, which has covered 7000 miles from new. Subaru fans also have an L Series, MV284 (Brat) a modified Legacy estate and four rare SVX coupés from which to choose.

The most eccentric of the classics on offer is a Volvo 740 Limousine, which comes with a standard-bodied 740 as a spares vehicle at asking price.

All the cars are UK-registered, many have extensive history files and offers are invited.
