Classic clubs are being encouraged to get their entries in for a national awards ceremony to be held at the NEC in March.

Now in its fourth year, the National Car Club Awards will be held during the course of this year’s Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show, with Discovery, with a total of 18 prizes being handed out in recognition of the biggest achievements, the best cars and the most memorable events. Entries are now open for 11 of the categories, with the remaining seven being announced at a ceremony on 23 March.

The CCW- supported awards are being judged by a panel of four classic experts – CCW editor, David Simister, Danny Hopkins, editor of our sister magazine Practical

Classics, David Boyce from Tourism Ireland and David Whale, chairman of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs.

David Simister said: ‘The National Car Club Awards is one of the highlights of my year because it’s a chance to recognise the bright ideas, countless hours of hard work and often unsung heroes who make our hobby what it is. ‘Clubs are the classic car devotees who make our favourite events a reality, the experts we turn to when we need spares and advice, and the custodians of a hugely important part of the nation’s heritage – and I’m looking forward to seeing their ideas being given the recognition they properly deserve.’

The entry process for the awards is open until Wednesday, 23 January, with categories for nomination including Outstanding Club Magazine of the Year, Unsung Hero of the Year and two awards recognising the best events, tours and runs. The rest of the prizes will be given to clubs taking part in the show itself, plus a Special Recognition award to be decided on by the judges. More details are available from the website. Panel chairman, Lee Masters, said: ‘In just three years, the National Car Club Awards has grown into a highlight of the classic car calendar, celebrating the achievements of classic car devotees who go above and beyond to put their club and chosen marques in the spotlight.

‘ We are thrilled that the National Car Club Awards recognises these heroes of the classic motoring community.’
