1

Check if the firm you’re booking with is covered by ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) or ABTOT (Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust), which should cover you in the event of your outing being cancelled.

2

Make your bookings using a credit card – this will give you more protection if your outing is cancelled beyond your control.

3

Make sure you leave in plenty of time to allow for any traffic delays or additional border checks – and consider staying the night before if your crossing is a morning one.

4

Double check with your insurer that you’re fully covered for European travel in your classic – most will continue to offer it as part of your normal classic policy, and one-off cover can be arranged.

5

Keep an eye on the news in the run-up to the UK’s expected departure date for more up-to-date advice. The European Commission has said that UK nationals will not need short-term visas to visit EU countries in the event of a no-deal exit for the UK.
