That’s my old Nova Cabrio!
I was delighted to see my old Vauxhall Nova Cabriolet being given the Value My Classic treatment ( CCW, 12 December). I spotted the car for sale while I was out for a run through a holiday home park in Barnard Castle and bought it a few days later.
I don’t think I realised what I had but the penny dropped when a group of teenage car enthusiasts were all over it when I displayed the car at our annual classic show in Coxhoe. They raved about it and thought it was ‘really cool’!
I decided to sell it at auction as it was not being used. I had orginally bought it for £550 and it stood me around £1k. My wife said: ‘You can keep whatever it makes over £1000.’
Then the bidding started and two gentlemen, sat almost side-by-side, battled it out to £1800. My wife soon reneged on her promise…
