MINI COOPER S (1964-67)

-

WHY IT’S SPECIAL Arguably the ultimate Mini. Remarkably, the Cooper S MkI is worth more as a project in need of serious restorative work than most Minis are in show-winning concours condition – and it’s seriously cool

There’s no Mini the market loves quite as much as the 1275cc Cooper S – it’s considered the definitive and ultimate Mini in most circles. MkIIs and MkIIIs are very valuable, but it is the pre-67 ‘moustache grille’ MkIs that are most prized. For the absolute pinnacle, look for cars built before September 1964 – these have rubber cone suspension

rather than Hydrolastic, which is generally preferred by purists. 1275 Cooper Ss are worth so much more than all other Minis that it is crucial that you’re certain of the authenticity of the car you are looking at – recreations are extremely popular.
