MINI ERA TURBO (1989-91)

-

WHY IT’S SPECIAL Turbocharged power made this the fastest Mini ever sold by official dealers. It’s also one of the rarest and most sought-after

While Rover’s in-house efforts at celebrating 30 years of the Mini created a special car, ERA had a much more drastic vision of how the anniversary should be commemorated – with 436 ERA Turbos. This essentially involved stuffing the 94bhp engine from the MG Metro Turbo into a Mini, but lots of extra kit was thrown in too, including MG Metro brakes, modified suspension,

Connolly leather and a Dennis Adamsdesigned bodykit. With a top-speed of 102mph it was the fastest Mini officially sold, the majority of sales being in Japan. Now extremely collectable, with the 99 original UK cars the most highly valued. The trick, obviously, is simply tracking a good one down.
