HEALTHY STOPPERS?

-

Brake-wise, look for a weak handbrake, corroded brake pipes and neglected discs and pads; the Brembo items fitted to the XKR aren’t cheap. And watch for noisy wheel bearings, uneven tyre wear, and cheap rubber that points to a penny-pinching owner. Alloy wheels suffering from corrosion and unsightly peeling lacquer can be refurbished for around £70 a corner. Lastly, listen for knocks emanating from the steering column on pre2000 cars – it’s a known issue.
