Your Letters

-

Iwas obviously delighted to see that your readers had voted the Standard 10 belonging to the Standard Motor Club as the car of the year. A lot of people were involved in saving this car (now known as ‘Bluebell’) so could I through your pages thank David Murray (the scrappie who saw the car coming through), Tom Sayles who got in touch with CCW and Practical Classics, and the latter’s James Walshe, who was so dedicated and didn’t seem to take no for an answer. A big thank you too, of course, to all who voted for her.

It will be interesting to see how many people will now remember the Standard name because it seems to have been forgotten by many people. ‘Oh, a Standard what?’ is what I often get asked at classic shows.

The story of Bluebell is far from over because we are still hoping to get the horrible ‘scrapped’ tag removed from the log book; I am sure this will help.

Bob Alexander, Standard Motor Club Scottish Group
