2001 Jaguar XKR Convertible
HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED THE CAR?
I bought it in April 2013 from a dealer in Bristol; it had 11,000 miles on the clock. I was working in Nigeria at the time and spotted it on the internet, so made a call to the showroom. The asking price was £19,000 – I tried to get him down to £17,000 but he wasn’t having it. I bought it two weeks later when he dropped the price to £16,995. When I got the car there was a whine from the front wheel bearings so I had both sides replaced. The mechanic reckoned that they had dried out from lack of use. I also put new discs and pads on the front and the wheels had a few marks so I had them powder-coated. I had local car restoration garage, Kinkell Classics, detail underneath the car.
HOW MUCH HISTORY?
I have a very good file of paperwork from previous owners plus myself for all the servicing. The current mileage is 16,899 and I have all the MoTs from its first to the present day (except 2008-2009) to confirm that. Since owning the car I have won 14 classic car shows, including the Scottish Jaguar Show in Doune, Perthshire, in 2015.
WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?
The car has a few light areas of bubbling that are barely noticeable unless they are pointed out, mainly around the rear arches and front passenger side wing. I am currently insured with Adrian Flux and have an agreed value of £19,000 for the car, but I am planning to renew this month and have asked them to increase it to £20,000.
HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?
The car has not been modified and is totally original.
