‘I’d like to see the full year’s figures – 20 May 2018 to 20 May 2019 – to get a full picture of how the MoT exemption has been received by our hobby. Clubs for the most part advocate a yearly inspection, if not a full MoT. Technically adept owners are probably sick of the government pandering to the lowest common denominator; granted, pre-1960 cars have been exempt from testing since 2011, and, as with 40-year-old VHIs, we haven’t had the “classic ploughs into nuns” knee-jerk horror stories that many predicted.’
