PRE-SALE RESEARCH
It might be stating the obvious, but if you’ve seen a car you’re interested in, consider how much you know about that particular model. What are its weak points? What is the spares supply like? If you aren’t sure, see if there are any relevant buyers’ guides or internet forums. The latter are especially useful because you can talk with owners, whose experience will be invaluable. Buying a car ignorant of it plus points – but more importantly its foibles – could be a big mistake, so spend time researching your chosen classic. Rest assured that it will be time well spent.
