CCW’S PICK OF THE CLUB DISPLAYS
1997 FORD ESCORT GTi
Not many tears were shed when the Focus replaced the sixth-gen Escort in 1998, but Ian and Lynda Barker’s 65,000-mile Ford Escort GTi is now a rare survivor. Bought as a cheap daily at 16,000 miles, the Barkers’ car is now cherished like few Escort MkVIs ever have been.
1992 ALFA ROMEO 75
It’s a shame that the Alfa 75 isn’t a more familiar sight at UK car shows – they’re up there with the best for fans of boxy 1980s bodywork. Of course, the famous Busso V6 also adds to the appeal.
1965 SUNBEAM TIGER MkI
John Welman’s Tiger is one of just two built by Rootes to be a photographic model for the updated ‘Mk1a’ interior, having a later interior fitted to an early body. Restored to fantastic condition, the anachronistic interior has nonetheless been maintained.
