HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED THE CAR?

I bought my 1996 Rover 100 Knightsbridge in February this year from a fellow member of the Metro Owners’ Club. It’s he who really must take all the credit for the car’s amazing condition – the superbly detailed engine bay gleams like the bodywork and the underside looks pretty much brand-new. It’s a totally straight example – the only slight flaws you can see on the car are a couple of touched-in stone chips on the bonnet. I’ve just had the Hydragas suspension pumped up and that’s it because everything else has been previously sorted, including a rebuild of the 1.1-litre K-Series engine, which involved the all-important improved cylinder head gasket replacement. The back silencer box has been replaced, too.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

There’s lots of history with the car, including all the relevant bills for work carried out over the years, and it was regularly serviced by that previous owner who did all the detailing work. The car has had just three owners before me, the first being a lady from Essex who bought it as an ex-demo and kept it for 15 years.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

The spare windscreen Included in the sale needs to be fitted – along with fresh screen rubber – because the original has a few chips in it. Another for the rear screen should also cure a slight leak. I’m putting the original Rover radio-cassette unit back in soon, too.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

Yes, but only with Rover six-spoke alloy wheels.
