HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED THE CAR?

I bought my Whitby Mini Warrior Estate in 2009 from the person who actually assembled the vehicle decades earlier using a 1973 Mini donor car with a 998cc A-series engine. My kit-car keeps the same registration identity as that Mini and has a Heritage Motor Certificate to show that it is classed as a historic vehicle, so there’s no road tax to pay and, since 2018, no MoT required either.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

I have lots of history, including the kit-car magazine that this car was once featured in. The Whitby Mini Warrior was a kit-car developed by Bryan Whitby Engineering at Hasleton, Crewe, in the early Eighties. The roof is made up in two sections, and is both clipped and bolted on. The doors are easily removed, too, so it can be converted into a pick-up with half doors. There were only something like 120 kits made, which came flat-packed. In fact one of them is displayed in the Whitby Morrison Museum and I believe that there is currently only one other example left on the road, apart from mine.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

It is still on drum brakes but I fitted an inline brake servo to help them a bit. I have also fitted Hi-Lo suspension height adjusters and adjustable shockers to raise it up a bit and improve the ride quality.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

Because of my age and health conditions I am actually thinking of selling this car but have no idea of what to ask for it.
