New Zealand classic collection to be sold

-

New Zealand’s British Car Museum, which has been closed since the death of its founder, Ian Hope, has revealed that it is to sell off its collection of more than 400 cars.

Ian passed away last August and the museum’s fate has remained uncertain ever since.

Museum trustee, Jo Hyland, told CCW: ‘It has been a very lengthy process on deciding the future of the museum.

‘Although we are still working through things, it looks like we will not be able to run the museum and therefore we will sell the museum and/or the cars separately.’

Ian Hope established the site in the Hawkes Bay area of New Zealand’s North Island in 1986 and became famous for tracking down and then displaying multiple model variants of various iconic British classics.

The trustees are to confirm specifics of how and when the cars are to be moved on at a later date.
