Hooper-bodied Bentley MkVI up for grabs
One of two surviving Bentley MkVI Sports Saloons with an aluminium body has come up for sale.
The 1949 4.5-litre by Hooper was a step up from the Standard Steel Saloon offered by the factory and considerably more prestigious despite similar appearances.
Just 25 were commissioned for the likes of factory owners and doctors, owing to the considerably higher costs over the Standard Steel Saloon.
Seller, Scott Fay, said: ‘It is very rare indeed. The only other is in California.
‘I’ve not been able to see pictures of another one and trips in it are effortless.’
Bentley and Rolls-Royce specialist, Daniel Moore, told Classic Car Weekly: ‘Having a Hooper body definitely gives the car more kudos. It had royal patronage at the time and King George was a Hooper fanatic.
‘ They’re rare in the UK because of how much they cost originally and also because many were exported to the US.’
The car is being offered for £29,500.
