MORRIS MINOR (1948-71)

WHY YOU’LL WANT ONE

-

There’s plenty of support from clubs and specialists

Some things are so reassuringly familiar that life just wouldn’t seem right without them – the shipping forecast, Bond films being repeated every other night on ITV2 and rain on Bank Holiday weekends, for instance. Oh, and temptingly priced Morris Minors popping up in our classifieds pages, of course.

While you’ll be waiting a while if you want a decent convertible, Traveller or 6cwt van within our budget, there’s normally a veritable embarrassment of saloons to choose from. Two-doors, four-doors, rolling restorations, doted-on cars in original condition, subtly tweaked daily drivers with electronic ignition and MG Midget power… what they all have a common are the same adorable looks, seemingly endless parts supply (there are more surviving Minors than there of some Noughties hatchbacks) and support from a huge owners’ club. Better still, members appear at classic shows right across the UK in normal years.

The sheer number of survivors has kept prices down – which is a great thing if you’re thinking of buying one.
