INSPECT THE HOOD

The soft-top should be checked for damage and fit, and look inside for stains. Upgrading to a glass heated rear window is straightforward because the wiring is in the loom (except on early cars), but you do need to add a switch. The optional plastic hard-top is a bonus because these can cost £400£500 secondhand – but don’t forget to check the condition and fit of the soft-top if the hard-top is fitted when you inspect.
