BUYING TIPS

■ Look everywhere for signs of corrosion, but pay particular attention to the wings, inner arches and headlight pods.

■ It’s not unusual to see TR7s in this price range being given different engines – particularly Rover’s V8 – but check the quality of the work and don’t pay over the odds.

■ Check carefully for signs of damage or dampness on cars fitted with Webasto sunroofs because their wooden frames are prone to leaking.
