Bugatti breaks auction record

A GP-winning Bugatti with royal provenance smashed a model record on 5 September when it sold during Gooding and Co.’s ‘Passion of a Lifetime’ sale for £9.5m. King Leopold III of Belgium bought the Type 59 – which won the 1934 Belgium GP with René Dreyfus behind the wheel – in 1938.
