THREE HEARTBEAT LOCATIONS YOU CAN STILL VISIT TODAY
GOATHLAND STATION YO22 9NF
The place where many Heartbeat characters made their debut and said their farewells, Goathland Station masqueraded as Aidensfield in the series. It’s on the magnificent North York Moors Railway, a preserved line with regular steam traction travelling 18 miles from Whitby to Pickering. What better way to travel? The station also has a tea-room. ■ nymr.co.uk
AIDENSFIELD STORES YO22 5LX
Originally called Goathland Stores, this establishment, on the village green, is run by extremely enthusiastic Heartbeat fans and is one of the best-known locations of the series. The frontage remains as on TV and the shop sells a vast range of souvenirs and other goodies. It’s extremely popular among visiting tourists.
SCRIPPS GARAGE/ AIDENSFIELD ARMS YO22 5LY
The garage location featured regularly in Heartbeat with normally kindly Vernon Scripps doing everything possible to keep the ancient cars of Aidensfield on the road, though the premises were often visited by the local police. Today the garage is a souvenir shop. Across the road is the Goathland Hotel (the Aidensfield Arms in the series) which is a working pub.
