Post-lockdown restrictions on visitor numbers meant that around 50 people had to be turned away from the British Motor Museum’s BMC & Leyland Show on 6 September.

More than 1000 classics attended the popular event, causing queues of up to half a mile long and involving a wait of 45 minutes.

Commenting on the situation, British Motor Museum show manager, Tom Caren, told Classic Car Weekly: ‘We had 1000 cars on the day, 650 prebooked as vehicle entries and 300 prebooked as just adult tickets but who turned up in an appropriate vehicle. We had another 50 vehicles turn up as on the day as visitors, plus around 300 on the day visitors.

‘We were approaching our selfimposed capacity so we had to close the gates to walk-ins at around 12.30pm, but we were able to honour all pre-booked tickets.

‘We did ask people beforehand to pre-book and mentioned on our website that there were only limited on the day tickets.’

?? ?? Pent-up demand meant that the BMC and Leyland Show couldn’t accommodate everyone on 6 September.
