NEC classic show called off
Uncertainty over COVID-19 guidelines prompts ‘disappointing’ decision
The organiser of the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery has called off this year’s event due to uncertainty over coronavirus regulations.
Clarion Events said that while it had been working on a version of the event – due to take place at the NEC in Birmingham on 13-15 November – aimed at minimising the spread of infection, it said that it had no choice but to postpone the event because it didn’t have the clarity needed from the government over larger indoor events.
Classic fans who have bought tickets have a number of options available, including transferring their tickets to next year’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show or the Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show, due to take place next March.
Clubs will be invited to submit their space requests for the 2021 event if they wish to attend, while stand and sponsorship bookings will automatically be transferred to 2021.
Show director, Lee Masters, said: ‘We are extremely disappointed as we have done everything within our power to try and make it happen. We want to thank all our partners, clubs, exhibitors, visitors and suppliers who have supported our endeavours to bring the show to you this year.
‘We understand that this decision will be a disappointment to many people who eagerly await the Classic Motor Show each year and look forward to when we can get together again.’
