Value My Classic: How much to insure this rare Mazda MX-6?

-

WHO? Lewis Howard MILES 46,882 PROVENANCE Lots of history MODS None HOW MANY LEFT? 160 approx.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED THE CAR?

I bought it at the start of this month because I have a Mazda MX-5 that I need to get some work done to. I’ve always had some kind of a classic since I was 18 years old, when I started with a Ford Fiesta MkI. I didn’t really want to just get a car that I was going to lose money on or have to sell as spares or repairs after I’d finished using it, so went for another classic. I also wanted something with a bit more poke so I chose the MX-6, which has a 2.5-litre V6. Until late last year this one had been laid up for around a decade, which helps explain the low mileage.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

I have two folder wallets of information for the car with MoT

and service history and receipts for what has been spent on the car in the past. As the mileometer shows, the car has only done 46,882 miles, which is impressive for a car this old. The interior is immaculate, with no wear or stains on the seats. It looks like it has been really well looked after and even smells a bit like a new car.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

No, not at all.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

Apart from it being rather dirty in the picture, it only has some rust on the sunroof that I’m looking to get sorted. My plan is to eventually get my other car back on the road and do some minor work to this car but otherwise keep it original. I’m looking for a guide to value it.
