Southern Cars manager, Sam Grangebailey, said: ‘I’m a big fan of the Stag. I think that mint, low-mileage examples are worth buying at the moment, although they are specification- and engine-sensitive.
‘While I don’t think there were any significant technical changes throughout production later trim levels are more sought-after. In fact either very early or later cars are the ones that I’d look out for; cloth, alloys, Inca Yellow or Tahiti Blue and the big one, a manual gear box. Those are cars that I’d go after and preferably with an original engine. Later engine changes do adversely aect value although they aren’t unusual and I’m all for it if they keep them aordable and on the road!’
