1983 Citroën Lomax 223

-

WHO? Chris Deane-hall MILES 52,561 PROVENANCE History since 1995 MODS All of it! HOW MANY LEFT? Unknown HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED THE CAR?

I bought the car back in 2019. I’d been looking for a sound Lomax for some time but they are quite rare and owners tend to hold on to them. I spotted this on a well-known website, acted quickly and bagged it! It’s based on a 1983 Citroën Ami 6. Being glass‡bre there is no body rot and underneath is extremely good, too. It was almost undriveable when we bought it because someone with little knowledge of Citroën A Series engines had messed with the carburettor. This was sorted out by a specialist and now it runs extremely well with a lovely exhaust note!

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

I have quite a lot going back to 1995. Its 52,561 miles are supported by documentation such as Mots (current and old) and invoices. The V5 document classes it as a trike and it turns 40 years old this year so classic tax will shortly be available. I keep the car in a garage and it slumbers there during the winter months, albeit woken regularly to keep everything up and running.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

There are small di“erences between Lomax models. To my mind this one is one of the best – easy to drive and a real hoot with wind in the hair motoring.

WHAT'S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

Just enjoy it. But although I very much like the Lomax I have several other classics so the time may well have come to reduce the '˜eet'. With this in mind, I’d very much value your thoughts as to its value. It is currently insured for £6000.
