WHO? Tim Hurd MILEAGE 88,880 PROVENANCE Long history MODS None HOW MANY LEFT? Unknown

HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED THE CAR FOR?

I bought my XJ12 Sovereign HE in April 2013 from Gouldings in Lincoln who at the time had a guy dealing with Jags of this type as a side business – he had around five at the time. I paid £4500. I have only done around 500 miles per year and the car is garaged when not in use. I am thinking of running an advert in the next few months and have no real idea of the current value though the insurance value is still stated as per the £4500 initial purchase price.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

Current mileage is 88,880 as proved by MOT certificates. The current one runs until October 2024 and there are no major advisories, just minor oil leaks. Looking at the history file the car’s mileage was 78,222 in 2001. There is a fairly detailed history file on the car and every year I’ve taken it to Mugglestones Independent Jaguar Specialists in Boston for servicing and MOT because I used to live there. Apart from an engine stripdown to solve an oil leak and a petrol pipe leak and repair there’s not been anything major, just general servicing. Mugglestones regards it as a solid, genuine car that runs really well and is solid underneath.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

It’s completely unaltered.

WHAT'S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

It has the usual temperamental electrical issues with windows, etc. but they still work, as does the sunroof. The interior is in reasonable condition though the headlining could use a bit of work as is usual on these cars. The paint is pretty good – there’s the odd blemish around the back window chrome and one spot building on the back but they should be easy to fix and aren’t rotting through yet.
