Minichamps, £149.99 The paint finish of this M1 is alarmingly patchy for something so pricey but there’s no avoiding its presence. Its details are better modelled than its body, and there’s genuine alcantara seat fabric and full suspension detail.

1:18-scale Matra MS630

Spark, £134.99 Matra is under-represented in 1:18, so this model will be welcome in any Sixties sports-racer collection. You keep having to remind yourself it’s a sealed-body resin, such is the realism. It’s a pity you can’t get a decent view of the V12, though – it is in there.

1:43-scale Saab 900 Turbo 16S

Norev, £39.99 If you’re inspired by Ross Alkureishi’s Smart Buys choice (p48) but don’t have the space or money, this diecast can help. It has a sense of humour too, with its ‘IKEA 392’ numberplate. The panel gaps and detail are good for a model of this size and price.

1:18-scale Porsche 718 RSK ‘Monoposto’

Cult, £142.99 This centrally steered hillclimb 718 will please Porschephiles. You can’t see the engine, but the Wendler bodywork is accurate. The interior’s intricate web of chassis tubes makes the model.
