Steve Coogan’s E-type

I have to confess I’m puzzled why Steve Coogan (‘Knowing E, Knowing You’, July 2017) would wish to spend, say, £100,000 on bringing his E-type back to its original looks and specification. Why not spend the money on another car – say a nice series 1 Lotus Elite – and enjoy both? The changes to his E-type are after all a part of its history, and given the current market I don’t suppose it will depreciate if left as is. Eric Kwiatkowski
