A comprehensive round-up of the forthcoming year’s best tours, rallies and shows

What a year 2018 promises! The calendar is teeming with events, from shows and concours to scenic tours and full-on motor sport. The best drive certain sections of the classic car market all by themselves. Why? Because the events are so good they make eligible cars more desirable. For both participants and spectators, a day at the VSCC’S Prescott Hill Climb, a weekend at the Goodwood Revival or the Le Mans Classic, or that whole week around the Monterey peninsular in August all offer a holiday from everyday life and total immersion in what we all like best – fantastic old cars.

The range of events open to us has never been wider. Local car shows still exist and some of the best are included in this guide, often in their third or fourth decade. Non-competitive holiday tours still attract many more people than serious long-distance rallies, but hard-edged competition is there at every price point for those who want it. More and more, we see tours offered with a historic race meeting or show as the end-point, reminding us that the journey may be more important than the destination.

Having a classic car can be many things but above all it should be fun. With something to do just about every weekend throughout 2018, use this guide to help ensure you enjoy your classic to the full.
