Capri RS2600 The orig­i­nal homologation spe­cial; 3532 built. Ger­man-built, Lhd-only and pow­ered by a 150bhp, 2637cc long-stroke ver­sion of the Cologne V6 with Kugelfis­cher fuel in­jec­tion.

Capri RS3100 Last-gasp Uk-built, Rhd-only MKI homologation model; 3.1-litre carbfed Es­sex V6 had 148bhp but more torque than RS2600. Spoil­ers front and rear re­duced lift. Only 248 made.

Per­ana MKI 3000 with a 5.0-litre small-block V8 squeezed un­der the bon­net by South-african tuner Basil Green. Mod­i­fied sus­pen­sion and a Fal­con rear axle helped tame its 285bhp.

X-pack Se­ries X kits for MKII and MKIII tar­geted per­for­mance, han­dling, road­hold­ing and ap­pear­ance. Ford ad­ver­tised ‘as much or as lit­tle as you like’ could be done.

Tick­ford Capri Base 2.8i re-en­gi­neered to pro­duce the ul­ti­mate Capri. Ex­pen­sive and no two the same – 205bhp turbo V6, leather and Wil­ton car­pet in­te­rior, disc brakes all round, and wild styling.

Zak­speed Turbo Turbo spe­cial for Ger­many was Lh­donly; 200 made. Zak­speed added a Gar­rett tur­bocharger to the 2792cc V6 for 188bhp, plus GRP whee­larch ex­ten­sions and big spoil­ers.
