Time for a Triumph TR7 revival?
I’m going to stick my neck out and say that 2021 is going to see a long overdue change in the fortunes of the Triumph TR7. Fans of more red-blooded TRS might look down their noses at the unfavoured sibling, but there is a growing interest in all British fare from the Seventies, and also a change in attitudes and needs.
These days not everyone in the market for a compact two-seater is looking for something that growls at pedestrians and proves your powers of endurance. A growing number care not a jot for the TR7’S lack of dynamic prowess because it looks cool in a wedgey Seventies way and is quite civilised to travel in. You can even listen to the radio.
They are also still far too cheap – you can even buy a nice convertible with decent mileage for around four grand. From a dealer. Coupés are now rarer, and that means their values are starting to catch the drop-tops. Buy now.
