For the love of cars

To all the magazines I have enjoyed I want to thank you for celebrating the car, for feeding my passion, for taking me away in your stories, for beautiful graphics, humour and really great photography.

It all started in 1986 when I bought my first copy of De Autogids (BE) with the little pocket money I had. It wasn’t just buying a magazine, it was and still is a ritual – going to the newsstand, the smell of a freshly printed magazine, the feeling of the paper. Coming home with it was like coming home with a present, it took me away for hours.

A few years later I discovered Autovisie (NL), Autokracht and Topwheels (BE) and after visiting a large magazine store in Antwerp, the world opened up on me. My growing love for classic cars was reflected in even more magazines on a monthly basis – there are so many that I hope Mrs Windey is not reading this.
