Haynes’ Enthusiasts’ Manual series has been a bit hit-and-miss over the years, but this is a firm hit. The first half deals with the T16’s rally story, the engineers, drivers, and events that went beyond Group B and into the cancelled Group S and the worlds of Rallycross, Rallye-raid and hill climbing. The second is heralded by a dizzyingly detailed colour cutaway and deals with the car’s engineering in equal depth. Garton enlists the likes of Vatanen, Kankkunen, Mouton and Todt to add colour – and he doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to the politics of the sport either. A great book for a tiny price.
