CHOOSE YOUR FIRST-GEN SATELLITE

Plymouth launched the Belvedere in 1951 but it wasn’t until 1965 that it introduced the Satellite designation to denote the top-level variant. It was available as a two-door hardtop or convertible, and included bucket seats and a centre console as standard. A 273ci (4.5-litre) V8 was default, but V8s of a capacity up to 426ci (7.0-litres) were available as options.

The Satellite was slightly restyled for 1966 and a 425bhp ‘Street Hemi’ V8 became available.

The final year (1967) of the first generation Satellite saw another cosmetic refresh, with twin headlamps and tweaks to the boot and tail-light areas. Inside, a ‘Western Scroll’ motif was applied. The new GTX also toppled the Satellite as the Belvedere range flagship.
