No birthday party for E-type values

-

Abig anniversary for a car often brings hype, magazine features and price rises. Many predicted that for the E-type, which turns 60 this year. But it has long been felt that those market jumps were driven by people wanting to get a car to attend the various celebration events in. Since it looks like we’re still not going out much for at least the first half of this year, perhaps that’s why E-type values continue to drift in the opposite direction.

That’s in line with most other classics in that sector of the market, so it really does look like business as usual, unless there is a late rallying when the sun comes out.

With the latest falls that means that overall E-type values are around 10-15% down on where they were four years ago. That’s pretty even across the board, though oddly 2+2s are holding their ground best.

Of course it still hasn’t seen them slip back into the ‘affordable’ bracket yet. Not when you consider that prices doubled in the five years before that. But every little helps, and for enthusiasts they’re heading in the right direction.
