Trumped

Your quite excellent Pininfarina special (Pininfarina at 90, February 2021) had me feverishly reaching for my original Seventies Dubreq Super Cars Top Trumps. It profiles the Hot Wheels-esque Peugeot Peugette in Ones That Got Away but within this card pack it’s titled Peugeot S 85G. Trawling Google under this moniker yields little extra and possibly more down to inherent vagaries of Top Trumps’ ham-fisted naming conventions which among other obscure exotica concepts contains various Felber Swiss concoctions, Ghia’s Corrida and Megastar, as well as the vaguely labelled Jaguar Bertone, in fact 1977’s XJ-S based Ascot. I recall the Peugeot playing card never resulted in a winning hand, perhaps my fave Pininfarina penned concept the glorious and almost Ufo-like Ferrari Modulo might, especially now that Jim Glickenhaus has it running under its own steam.
