CHOOSE YOUR CITROËN 2CV
► Designed in 1937, the Citroën 2CV Type A, with its 375cc engine, was launched belatedly in 1948 after World War Two intervened. Van and estate joined the range in 1951.
► 1955 AZ option added a 425cc engine and, in 1957, a metal bootlid replacing the canvas roll. ‘Luxury’ AZAM from 1963 included more conventional sprung seats and CV joints.
► Twin-engined 4x4 Sahara added in 1960 and sold until 1971. 375cc option dropped in 1960.
► Range rationalised in 1970 into 425cc 2CV4 and 603cc 2CV6. Rectangular adjustable-height headlamps were the most recongiseable aspect of a 1975 facelift after a post-oil-crisis sales lift.
► Round lamps reappeared in 1982; inboard front disc brakes also added. Production ended 1990.
