CHOOSE YOUR R170 MERCEDES SLK
► Returning to the sports car themes of the original Fifties 190 and 300 SL, Mercedes launched the SLK in 1996. Most models had a supercharged 2.3-litre engine although a small number of high-tax markets received both supercharged and normally aspirated SLK200S.
► A minor redesign of the lights, grille and bumpers in 2000 was accompanied by a new engine line-up. The 200 was now supercharged as standard (and available in all markets) and the range was topped by the 3.2-litre V6 320.
► A tuned version joined the range in 2001 after Mercedes took a controlling interest in AMG. The SLK32 AMG featured a supercharged V6. The R171 SLK replaced the R170 in 2004.
