ON BRAD’S TERMS

It wasn’t only Lackey’s brilliant and determined riding which caught the public eye, the lad had a whole litany of terms almost incomprehensibly alien to the UK and European scene of more than 45 years ago… Out went ‘pressing on’ and ‘a chap to watch…’ and in came ‘ WFO’ and ‘check out.’ Martin Christie compiled this list in 1954 and I’ve shamelessly pinched it… of course we’re all familiar with such terms these days… and there’s much less “cor blimey, mate, are you an American…”
