Who the hell is Kevin Raymond?

-

What can we say about the legend that is Kevin Reginald Fortescue Raymond? Well, he's been fiddling with bikes since his first field bike – a CZ 175 – in about 1979, and writing about them since 1990, first for Performance Bikes, then as a freelancer for RIDE, Bike, MCN and others. He was also editor of What Bike? from 1994 to 2005, but he escaped in the end. The first journalist to be clocked at over 200mph on a production bike (the original Suzuki Hayabusa), he was also the first to crash a Harris YZR500 Grand Prix bike (he blamed the tyres) and also memorably wrote off 35 grand’s worth of MV Agusta belonging to the boss of MV (he blamed the gearbox). Now living in France (he blames the wine), he mostly writes about posh new motorbikes which he can’t afford, while his personal fleet of bikes actually consists of… well, the tat you’ve just read about!
