LC REPLICA!

-

Velocity-moto can produce an RD doppelgänger for you which draws strongly on the retro success of bikes such as the Kawasaki Z900RS. Yup, retro is big business, little wonder then that Hag Hughes from Velocity-moto is churning out these Yamaha Rd-lc-powervalve specials! If the name sounds familiar, Hag was a specials builder of some repute back in the 1980s and 1990s and worked closely with our sister title Fast Bikes, back in the day on a series of high-profile, high-performance special builds. He says: “At Velocitymoto we produce body kits to convert Yamaha XSR900S to resemble RD350LCS from back in the day. They are even available in ‘stock’ or ‘hooligan’ forms, the latter having Ohlins or K-tech suspension, Akrapovic full system (with corrected fuelling) rear-sets and shift-lights/

sat-nav in a carbon ‘LC’ style clock surround too.” While the basics of the Yamaha XSR900 remain standard, the body kits look lovely and really shout back to the time of the Lc/powervalve, thanks to that YPVS bikini fairing and the Lc-aping tail unit. Okay, so it’s not a two-stroke twin – but we still like it a lot – more so with the pukka RD-LC/ YPVS paint schemes such as the classic white/blue, a Mars Bar and Kenny Roberts replicas. A basic Velocity-moto 900LC is priced around £10,300, but soon the body kits alone will be available priced around £1500 for those not wanting to go the whole hog with the chassis and engine upgrades. Oh yes, we will be riding one very soon.
